Watch City in the Windy City

It's been a while since we've been onstage, a little too long for my liking. That will change very soon. Watch City will be performing songs from It's Only a Mixtape with a few other surprises at the Nite Cap in Chicago on Saturday, September 10th. Don't sleep on this show! We promise our best performance to date. 21 and up, so get a fake kiddo.

Angrous's joint of the Day

To be honest when this album came out I really didn't fuck with it, at all. But after actually listening, I can't front on em Murs is nice. Off of Murs' 2008 album "Murs for president" my personal favorite song off the album "Breakthrough"

Watch City - It's Only a Mixtape...

I understand that to the right of the page these is a direct download link but this alternate cover appears to be slept on, atleast in my opinion. Done by Watch City's own Kyle Cole.
-_-

Dave's Joint Of The Day

It appears to be a J. Cole kind of day amongst me and my Watch City comrades aha. MY personal favorite of  Cole's first "Any Given Sunday" installment is the joint he did with Voli, who produced the track, and Omen called 'Pity'. Enjoy.

Dave's Angrous's Joint of the day

Included in his newly released ep "Any Given Sunday" "how high" is cold as fuck. disagree? eat a dick.

Dave's Joint Of The Day...

Freddie Gibbs ft. Alley Boy & Big K.R.I.T. - Rob Me a N**** (Produced by Big K.R.I.T.)

This joint just makes you want to catch a case! Hahaha... Backed by sampled strings, a heavy 808 bassline and a simple yet unforgivable hook by Big K.R.I.T. this song is the PERFECT "get money by any means" anthem for the summer... Freddie Gibbs "A Cold Day In Hell" is set to be released soon. POW!

LOOPS AND LYRICS

Boom Bap ya love it or hate it. When I was in Middle school I can't tell you how super duper Hard I fucked with anything Nas, Big, and I was a huuge guru fan. '04 and '05 wasn't exactly the prime time of any of these artists. but something about that straight forward flow over hard ass beats I could just feel in my gut. besides the fact I was a cynic and I felt like the shit on my walk home...Anyway since then I've noticed a lot of people around my age think it sounds flat and more to the point boring. I used to think it was a short attention span or maybe because they're searching for some metaphor or line they can cling to (ala Wayne). But now I think it's because of the lethargic flow and cool voice emcees of the past era had. take Rakim for instance. I think "As the rhyme goes on" is one of the most soulful tracks I've ever heard. but it's a prime example of what those people are talking about. I've heard people say Rakim's voice is emotionless and just dead sounding. As cliche of a word it is, Rakim had swagger in his raps point blank period. The same goes for most rappers of the 1990's era I think the total overall package of a beat, lyrics, flow, swagger, and voice was more important in determining the worth of a song rather than just a cool beat and some metaphors and in my opinion it's a damn shame that some people don't care enough to pay attention to the cohesive sum of the parts rather than just one or two aspects of songs

"It's Only a Mixtape" preview

NO FEMALE RAPPERS!!!

I can say for the most part I agree with this Female rappers have a tendancy to be boring as fuck and wack to boot, I eagerly await the day a female rapper can hold my attention for something more than just her ASSets... (Nicki minaj I'm lookin at you). but they're not all bad there are some femcees who have skills and just don't get the recognition they should (Jean Grae) but even they cannot hold my attention for long. maybe I can't relate to the often female directed subject matter, or maybe it's the strained voice of a woman who's bitter about not getting what she deserves (Lil Kim), but female emcees just don't do it for me (not even rah digga)
